Planet Zoo 2

Are Wildlife Reserves in Planet Zoo 2 Franchise Mode?

At a glance

Yes. In Franchise, open the Planet Hub with the world icon, choose an available reserve, name it and select Create Wildlife Reserve. Build suitable ecosystems and prepare Release Groups before releasing animals.

Create a Wildlife Reserve in Franchise

  1. Open your Franchise and select the world icon to enter the Planet Hub.
  2. Choose a location from the available Wildlife Reserves.
  3. Name the reserve, adjust its available settings and select Create Wildlife Reserve.

Your new reserve appears alongside the active reserves in the Hub. Sandbox also has a reserve creation route.

Establish an ecosystem

Use the Ecosystem Brush to select and paint an ecosystem. Meet the panel’s Area, Terrain and Nature requirements, along with any required water or elevation conditions, to move it from Invalid to Established.

Some Release Groups need a Flourishing ecosystem. Suitable released animals provide ecological roles that help it develop.

Prepare a Release Group

  1. Unlock the species’ Release Group. Some species require research in a zoo first.
  2. Move eligible animals into Animal Storage.
  3. Add them to the species’ Release Group and meet the group’s displayed requirements.
  4. Check that the reserve and ecosystem suit the group, then choose Finalize.
  5. Follow the group’s release requirements and monitor the animals, ecosystem and biodiversity progress in the reserve.

Finalizing begins acclimatisation, and those animals cannot return to the zoo. Make the destination and group checks before committing.

Which animals can be released?

A species needs a suitable reserve. Not every launch animal can go to every reserve. Follow the available location and Release Group requirements rather than using the full zoo animal list as a release checklist.

Reserve care focuses on ecosystem restoration and research networks, rather than managing animals to the same day-to-day extent as in a zoo.
