How to Change Water Salinity in Planet Zoo 2

At a glance

Change Salinity in the connected Filtration Network. Choose Freshwater, Brackish or Saltwater to match your species. Every water body on that network shares the setting, so separate incompatible water types.

Change the network’s salinity

  1. Select a Water Filter or filtration building and choose Edit Filtration Network.
  2. If the tank is not connected, build pipes between the filtration building and the node on its Aquarium Staff Gate.
  3. In the network editor, change Salinity to Freshwater, Brackish or Saltwater.
  4. Check the Zoopedia requirements of every species in every connected water body.
  5. Inspect the water and animal panels after the change.

Salinity belongs to the network rather than one isolated tank. Use separate networks when your animals need incompatible water types.

Check new aquariums before adding animals

A new aquarium fills with Freshwater. Set the correct water type before moving in a brackish-water or saltwater species. The wrong salinity can cause Osmotic Stress and may kill the animal.

Temperature is a separate setting. Changing one does not take care of the other.

Natural habitat water and drinking

A Water Pump connected to a Filtration Network brings natural habitat water under that network’s salinity setting too. Terrestrial animals can wade or swim in different water types, but only Freshwater serves as drinking water.
